Microfinance: How Second Covid Wave Hammered Micro Lenders to Small Businesses, Individuals


In India, "Even as microfinance lending was able to recover to the pre-pandemic mark by [June 2021], the second wave and the following lockdown put a severe dent in the sector’s growth" from July through September.


Srikanth Goli, Associate Vice President of Research & Insights at Crif High Mark commented, “we expect good recovery [from October through December]. We should see a corresponding increase in originations as well since both inquiries and originations are correlated.”
