We're announcing today that, after 38 years of operations and tremendous support from stakeholders across the United States, Oikocredit US will wind down by the end of June 2023. While this news is bittersweet, we're also delighted to be making an unrestricted grant of approximately $300,000 to one of our most highly respected peer organizations, Working Capital for Community Needs (WCCN). WCCN has an impressive, decades-long track record of improving livelihoods in low-income countries in Latin America, and offers a way for people in the US to invest in its microfinance lending in that region.
Our news release has the full details on our decision to wind down, how the operations of Oikocredit International are unaffected, and how you can learn more about the team and good work of WCCN.
Thank you to all of our supporters for bolstering our impact and mission over the past four decades. Whether you made an investment, sent a donation or simply followed our news and posts, we are grateful. We hope you'll considering checking out WCCN and the meaningful, lasting impact they're making in low-income countries.
